Easy Paper Crafts for Kids
Paper materials of different kind can be used as paper crafts for kids. All we need are ideas on how to turn these materials into beautiful craft. Paper and items of paper material are available easily and inexpensive. It makes it easy to make crafts with our kids at home.
Here are some creations from my kids...
Paper Box and Towel Roll
Stack up paper boxes and towel rolls of different sizes to create a giraffe. Use paper cups as the face. Cut some paper to use it as ears and mane for animal. Tape the boxes, towel rolls with masking tape. Fold the cutout ears and mane to glue it or tape it on with double-sided tape. Design your giraffe according to your liking by painting over the entire piece.
To make photo frame from paper boxes; cut paper boxes into pieces of different size. Ensure there is a rectangular as the base, two pieces of same length and another two-piece of same breadth. Paint the length and breadth pieces and glue on the rectangular base. Decorate as necessary.
Paper crafts for kids can come in different themes:
Japanese Paper Crafts
Origami, the Japanese style of paper folding, is well known. All you need are colored papers and folding instruction on items. Folding paper crane is the most common craft to start with in origami. Create crane with different sizes and colors for variety. Your kid can give it away as gifts to friends as token of friendship.
Create an ocean theme by pasting folded fishes on a piece of drawing paper. Add on some drawings of clouds, seagulls and color the sea in blue. You have just created a 3D art piece.

Paper crafts for Chinese New Year
Red is the traditional color for Chinese New Year. Many Chinese families like to decorate their homes with this color during this occasion. Decorative items made of red packets come in handy during this time of the year.
Gather some red packets and plan this project as one of the paper crafts for kids before the festive starts.
This is another creative paper art. Roll up strips of paper to create patterns and flowers. Glue them on paper and create a 3D art. For beginners, I recommend create a simple card. As one progresses, you can create more patterns on bigger paper. You can frame it up and hang on wall.
If you are doing it with small young kids, do help them in rolling the papers. Their fine motor skills may not be fully developed to achieve the desire patterns they want. This is to ensure they do not become frustrated making this craft.
Paper craft Masks
Making mask is fun for kids. Research some samples and let the kids draw it out on a piece of paper. Design, color or paint accordingly. Cut it out.
Making paper masks is a great paper craft idea for kid's birthday party. Children can make masks according to the birthday theme. They get to put on the masks immediately for the party.
Knight and Spider Man Masks
Tips on Making a Quick Face Mask
Make two holes on the round paper plate for the eyes. Punch two small holes on each side of the paper plate. Size of hole should be just enough to tie a rubber band. Ensure this is aligning to the eyes, as your kid will wear the mask with rubber band hooking on his ears.
Decorate, design and paint the paper plate as the child likes. Stick on some whiskers using paper strip, if prefer.
Use color pencil instead of paint for ease of cleaning up for young kids.
Paper Plate Craft
Many paper crafts for kids can be created from a round paper plate. Paper plate is a great piece of canvas. Here are some paper plate craft ideas.

Paper Cutting of Chinese Word Spring
As a start, you may just want the kid to do a simple pattern. Like any other craft, the pattern and design is limited only by one’s creativity. You can create paper cutting patterns with holiday theme design such as Easter, St Patrick’s Day, Halloween and many more. What you need is the design and idea on how to go about folding and cutting it out.
At Tong's Paper Cutting you can find instructions about how to make your own paper cuttings, and you also can find a lot of free paper cutting patterns for you to enjoy!
Little Worm made from Tissue Paper
Another paper craft for kids contribute from my girl...
I love making craft. I am glad to be able to make this beautiful worm and like to share it with everyone.
At a first glance, most people thought that it is a real worm.
Initially, I have no idea what craft we were suppose to make when we were told to collect material for preparation by my teacher.
Things you need:
> A thick leaf
> A piece of tissue paper
> A wooden chopstick
> A straw
> Some colorful marker
> Strong glue
Roll the tissue with the chopstick and put glue at the end. Push the tissue together to make the lines on the body. Decorate the worm using colorful markers.
Cut about a quarter of the straw and stick it at the end of the leaf. Put the chopstick through the straw and stick the end of the chopstick onto the tip of the leaf. Do not glue the whole chopstick onto the leaf.
Finally, stick the head and the tail of the worm onto the leaf.
Pull the chopstick in and out. This will make worm looks like moving!
You also can use it to scare your granny who is scared of worms. ( He! He! )
